Dr. Zuly Fernandez, D.M.D, M.S. was born in Cuba and immigrated to the United States with her family as a child. Raised in South Florida, she attended New World School of the Arts High School, Miami Dade College (Advanced Placement Program), Edison State College, and Florida Gulf Coast University. During her years in college, Dr. Fernandez served as the first Hispanic female student government president and founded her first non-profit organization - Dental Adventures.
She later continued her studies in the field of dental medicine at the University of Puerto Rico where she earned the degree Doctor of Dental Medicine. Dr. Fernandez graduated with the highest honors and achievements such as the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry Apex Scholarship and the Award for Outstanding Leadership and Academic Excellence from the American Academy of Women Dentist.
Dr. Fernandez went on to pursue two years of advanced education in general dentistry at New York University Langone Medical Center. In an effort to remain at the forefront of dental medicine, she pursued specialty training at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic hospital where she earned dual post graduate degrees in Periodontology and Masters in Biomedical Sciences. Upon graduation, she received the American Academy of Periodontology Student Achievement Award; the highest honor given by the academy to a graduating periodontal resident.
After a decade of training, Dr. Fernandez has returned home to Miami where she will continue to treat and promote periodontal disease awareness and oral health.
